Angry youths from Igoji, Meru County lit bonfires during President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto's visit on Saturday.
The youth were reportedly angry with the Jubilee administration, which they said had ignored their pleas.
Anti-riot police officers were forced to lob teargas canisters at the protesting group of youth who staged demos and barricaded the Meru-Embu highway in protest over construction of a link road.
The youth alleged that the Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi failed to influence the launch of tarmacking of Kieni Kia Ndege-Mworoga-Mitunguu by President Kenyatta during his tour in County.
The youth even threatened to torch some PSV matatus that were caught in the fracas.
