Residents of Pioneer Estate in Uasin Gishu County are calling on the county commissioner Mr Abdi Hassan to enhance security in the estate especially at night.

They claim that despite the police patrols in the area at night, there are still insecurity incidences reported. The most recent case was a shopkeeper who was attacked at night by thugs and some of his properties stolen.

"At around 1.20am on Monday, unknown men entered my shop as customers and later turned to be thieves. I tried to save my property and family but they used excessive force," said Mr Joseph Mokaka, the shopkeeper.

"Despite the screams from my wife, nobody could hear due to heavy rains during that time," he said.

Mokaka said more police officers should be deployed to the area at night to protect them and their property from the gangsters.

Mr Eliud Kosgei, another resident noted that many insecurity cases have been reported from the area since the beginning of the year threatening even bodaboda operators not to visit the place past 10.00 pm.

The residents are now calling on the county commissioner to intervene and beef up security in the area at night.
