Nairobi senator Mike Sonko finally received a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), despite the department declining, earlier.
It was alleged Sonko who seeks to unseat incumbent governor Dr Evans Kidero, had been blocked from getting the crucial document, ahead of the deadline to submit nomination papers, March 17.
His rival, Peter Kenneth (PK), had already submitted the papers to the Jubilee party National Elections Board, ready for the nominations, set for April.
However, Thursday evening, Sonko took to his social media account, and expressed his feelings, after he finally received the certificate.
''Thanks be to God. I just got my Certificate of Good Conduct this evening. The devil shall continue to be defeated in Jesus' Mighty name,'' he said, as he looks forward to beat Kenneth in nominations.
They both want to a Jubilee Party ticket to beat Kidero.
Earlier, critics had claimed the party was not interested in Sonko's candidature, but rather preferred Kenneth.
According to the former Gatundu MP was the best person to give ODM's Kidero, sleepless nights, in the race to Nairobi County's top job.
Others such as Prof Herman Manyora, however see the flamboyant Sonko as Kidero's best dose.
