Abortion has been on the rise in most of the universities in the country.
Moi University specifically has had shocking incidences of aborted foetuses being found around the school. Just recently an aborted foetus was found in one of the ladies' hostels at the main campus. This is not he first time as such aborted foetuses have been found in the dumping sites of hostels previously.
But where exactly do these abortions take place? Who are the perpetrators? Where are they located?
There are two major places that abortions are carried out at a shockingly cheap price in the Kesses-based university.
The business has become so rampant that the places are popular among the students.
The first notorious place for abortions is a market centre called Mabatini, mostly referred to as Mabs. A small clinic situated at the heart of the market is mostly known for the business. A few weeks ago a doctor at the clinic was captured on a video while offering the services to a student. In the clip, the doctor said that he receives up to more than 10 students per day who go to seek the services. His prices range from Sh2000 to Sh6000 depending on the age of the pregnancy.
Another place not far from the university that also provides abortion services is a clinic at Kesses trading centre. The clinic is convenient for students who seek the services as it is a little bit further away from the school as compared to Mabatini. This guarantees the students some level of confidentiality. The clinic carries out abortions of pregnancies up to 6 months. One student revealed that a friend of her carried out an abortion for a pregnancy that was 6 months old.
Those are the place where cheap abortion happens. The menace has been on a constant rise despite the university trying to deal with by offering the student condoms at their hostels.
