The plan by the FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi to unite the Luhya community has suffered a major blow after a section of Jubilee lawmakers from Western dismissed the plan.
Speaking to the Press led by Sirisia MP John Waluke, the leaders condemned the move terming it egocentric and dishonest.
“For the last two weeks two individuals Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi have been running up and down across western Kenya purporting to be talking about Luhya community. We condemn the move because it is personal selfish and dishonest,” said Hon. Waluke.
The legislator also added that the community leaders cannot be talking about unity after every election and that they already have an inclusive government.
“We cannot talk about Luhya unity every after election, we are already in the government, nine MPs from western Kenya we are already in government and at least, this is the government that we fought for and we cannot jump out of the government and now jump into something we do not know,” said the Sirisia lawmaker adding that the speaker of National Assembly, two cabinet secretaries among other leaders are from Western.
He concluded that the plan to merge their party will exclude other communities such as the Teso who live in the Western Kenya.
