The governor said the youth have fought and sacrificed for the party for a long time, and they deserve to be recognised and rewarded.

Speaking on Thursday when he visited members of East-West Youth Group off Kampala Road, Ranguma said he has been touched by the actions of the youth who have defended the party for along time.

"You people have a broad heart for the party and we have seen you protect the party by all means. We know the party does not have allocations for certain sacrifices and that is why as leaders of the party we want to ensure you have something to get your daily bread from," said Ranguma.

The governor had been challenged by the youth group leaders to use part of the youth empowerment funds to support them.

The youth who are running a chain of iron-sheet kiosks along Kampala Street are planning to construct a modern building on the land which was reportedly leased to them by Former Mayor Sam Okello due to their resilient contribution to the ODM party.

Mr Ranguma also promised to ensure the youth fully own the parcel of land which had been leased and they get title deeds so as to allow them to access loans to promote their businesses.

"I am glad that the youth have strong business minds and we have to support this initiative. I will engage the Lands Board so as to find a way of intervening so that you are fully empowered," Ranguma told the youth.
