In a letter written to the county officials including MCAs by the county secretary Humphrey Nakitari, informed them of the postponement of the retreat.

“This is to inform you that the retreat which had been organized to take place at the Kenya School of Government Nairobi has been postponed indefinitely,” read the read

Odinga noted that the retreat was not a priority at a time the county is faced by financial constraints.

“We are faced with developments that have not been implemented, the retreat can wait as we deliver for the residents,” she said.

Kisumu County Assembly Majority Leader Samuel Ong’ou has in the meantime faulted the cancellation.

Ong’ou said there is a cliché of people at the Governor’s office who continue to overrule decisions made by Governor Jack Ranguma.

“The deputy governor and the county secretary are holding Ranguma at ransom, we will not allow that decisions by the Governor are overrule every other time,” he said.

He said Ranguma must be allowed to discharge his duties effectively without any undue pressure and told him to be wary of such people in his office.

The retreat was scheduled for this Saturday to run through up to Monday with the main agenda to bond the county executive and the county assembly.
