A plan by a section of Bahati residents to rehabilitate a school in the area has turned into a shouting match on social media.

The group that is led by Mr John Macharia who is an aspiring MP of the area has received scathing attacks especially from Mr Joe Ngugi, the communications director for Bahati CDF board.

Mr Ngugi, a close ally of the current MP Kimani Ngunjiri posted on Facebook warning residents not to risk their money by supporting the move by the group.

“I am advising the people of Bahati to be cautious when they are giving out to some greenhorns out to collect campaign money in the pretext of helping Osembo (Primary School). You will see many fraudsters who will prey on your innocence. Keep your money where it belongs and that is in your pocket,” read part of Joe's post on Facebook.

The war of words started after Mr Crispus Wathimba, the general manager of Ominet Enterprises and also an aspiring politician posted photos of the sorry state of Osembo Primary School infrastructure.

Wathimba blamed the local leaders of negligence of local schools and called on residents to raise money to help the school.

“I am calling upon all well-wishers from Nakuru County that we come together to help schools in Bahati that are dilapidated due to neglect and the lack of investment on facilities by successful leadership in our county, constituency and respective wards,” appealed Mr Wathimba.

Wathimba has claimed that although Bahati Constituency has received over Sh300,000, 000 since 2013, local schools have not benefited.

However, the school head teacher said although the institution is in dire need of support, they have in deed been supported in various projects by the Constituency Development Fund.

The group leading in soliciting funds for the school has however vowed not to give up in their quest for a better Osembo Primary School.
