Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama has revealed county's plan to build a university.

Speaking on Thursday at Kebirigo Primary School during the inter-denominational prayer service, for the county's two fallen students, Nyagarama said the county is planning to build a university. 

"We have written a letter to the Ministry of Education to give us a university so that we can have many students, from the county, enrolling higher education," said Nyagarama.

Nyamira County lost three students in Garissa University terror attack with two of them being buried today in their respective homes.

At the same time he promised to support the county's Garissa University massacre survivors through the Ward Development Fund (WDF).

"I will support 21 students who escaped death in the Garissa University attack with funds from the WDF kitty, to enable them continue with their education," promised Nyagarama.

He gave Sh50,000 to each of the bereaved families to help them with burial arrangements.

Also present in the prayer service were Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo and Senator Mong'are Bwo'Kong'o among other leaders from the county.
