Plans are underway to install street lights and CCTV cameras in towns, estates and villages in Uasin Gishu to boost on security.
County roads executive Gideon Birir said that the county has set aside adequate funds to oversee the installation.
Birir said that improvement of infrastructure is among key priorities for the county government this financial year.
“The county government has set aside enough money to repair roads and install street lights,” he said.
The executive said that improving roads would enable farmers from the rich agricultural region to access markets easily.
Birir added that various roads have been earmarked for construction and repairs saying the exercise will commence before the beginning of the rain season.
He added that the county government is committed to ensure all roads and sewer systems are constructed and repaired before the end of this financial year.
The executive called on Members of the County Assembly to support the government plans.
“My appeal is to ask the MCAs to work with us as we strive to promote development,” he said.
