The dean of the faculty of health sciences Dr. Agnes Thsimbiri said this on Friday when she addressed new students at the Milimani Campus of the University that houses the health sciences faculty.

The dean observed that medical students and practitioners all over the world have been seen as ambassadors of good health in society, and encouraged the new students to cultivate the same spirit.

“As health experts, you are expected to be good examples of good health. You must play role models to other students and society the values of good health in all aspects of life,’’ said the dean.

She observed that as health students and future practitioners, they ought to strive at being healthy physically and mentally by avoiding issues like unprotected or irresponsible sexual behaviours, drug and alcohol consumption and poor hygienic standards.

Dr. Thsimbiri further encouraged the students to play active roles in community health activities by organizing and taking part in events that promote community health in order for them to nurture their career prospects and social responsibility capacities.
