Speaking on Saturday during the burial ceremony of the late Mama Alice Musila, mother to Senator David Musila, the former Vice President noted that he still held Musila in high regard, adding that the senator is a key pillar in Ukambani politics.

“I have neither accepted nor acknowledged Senator Musila’s resignation as our party chairman because I want him back,” he said.

Mr Musyoka further dismissed existence of any bad blood between him and Musila.

"We’ll remain friends and I'm ready to work with him again," Mr Musyoka said.

Musila quit after he lost the party's ticket to the incumbent governor Julius Malombe, who the lawmaker was seeking to unseat during the forthcoming polls.

He is set to vie as an independent candidate.
