Former anti-corruption agency boss and public orator PLO Lumumba has agreed that he stole the work of lawyer Wachira Maina.
Lumumba said he would write an apology to the lawyer for plagiarising Maina's work and passing it as his.
Lumumba and Maina on Wednesday recorded the consent where the latter agreed that he would withdraw his earlier petition after Lumumba writes the apology he would agree to in 14 days.
According to the Star, PLO is also required to table another ‘suitable’ letter and forward a letter of correction to Godgrey Kitiwa, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), the Law Society of Kenya Journal and Law Africa Publishing Ltd for an immediate recalling and deletion of the article from the LSK Journal publication, Volume 11 of 2015.
October last year Maina filed the case and accused Lumumba of intellectual theft from his article From Jurisprudence to Poliprudence: The Kenyan Presidential Election Petition 2013.According to Maina, Lumumba had lifted about 5,000 words verbatim from the article published by the East African on April 20, 2013.
Lumumba’s article was approximately10,000 words long, meaning that half of it was plagiarised work.
