Lawyer and renowned orator Dr PLO Lumumba has urged NASA to accept President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory saying the other things the coalition is engaging in are 'legal gymnastics'.

Lumumba says that to remain 'prisoners of the past' does not help Kenya move into the future.

He, however, warns that 'winners must not gloat and the vanquished must not be humiliated'.

"From a legal point, there was an election on Oct 26. Those who were validly elected in accordance with the law were declared winners. I am a legal puritan, the only legal inauguration I know of took place on Tuesday. The other planned inauguration would be illegal," Lumumba told Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday.

He added that Nasa, according to the electoral body, lost the election on August 8 which it challenged at the Supreme Court leading to the nullification of Uhuru's first victory.

"They then chose to boycott the repeat election. It would have been easier for Nasa to go back to Supreme Court and say they could not participate in an election where their irreducible minimums had not been met," he said.

He said the only way forward was for Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta to come together noting that there is 'wisdom in having a dialogue'.

However, Amani National Congress Secretary general Barrack Muluka dismissed the call for dialogue terming it 'hypocritical'.

"It is hypocritical for people to ask for dialogue now, yet a few weeks ago Nasa put out the same call for dialogue that was dismissed. If people cannot begin by repenting then these other exercises are in futility," Muluka said.
