A secret plot by land grabbers to take over Kapiti Research Station in Machakos County has been exposed.  The management claimed that certain influential personalities have hatched a plot to make a false claim on the said property.

The research station, which has helped millions of small-scale meat and dairy producers not only in Kenya but also entire African continent, risks closure if the land grabbers are not stopped with immediate effect. International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), which is a non-profit organization, has been operating the center since 1980’s.

The NGO has been working with Kenyan and international researchers to change lives of the farmers from different parts of African. There are many Kenyans working at the research station, which has recorded increased income of Sh3.3 billion annually.

The Station earned itself recognition after developing a vaccine against East Coast fever in cattle. The research has since embarked on making a vaccine for Rift Valley and malignant catarrhal fevers. The station has also provided farmers in drier areas with hardy livestock for improved farming.
