The Party of National Unity (PNU) has accused former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni of attempting to eject former President Mwai Kibaki as the party head.
Party Chairman John Kamama claimed that Kioni, whose admission to the National Executive Committee was deemed illegal by the high court last week, was out to destroy the unity the party has been enjoying.
Kamama was speaking at in an exclusive interview in Nakuru where he claimed that Kioni, who had dumped the party for UDF, did not have authority to make decisions meant for the party.
“He has not even been to the grassroots and seeks to be made a head. He should respect the structures that were in place and shouldn’t try to force himself in the party leadership,” he added.
Kamama threatened to lead a boycott meeting called by the Secretary General John Anunda in September citing that the right procedure was not followed.
“I have called for an urgent meeting with the officials slated for Thursday to discuss the way forward for the meeting. Anunda did not have any authority to call for a national delegation meeting especially since we did not have any sitting as PNU officials and as the chairman I was not involved. He can only do this through the authority from me” He added.
Last week the court nullified a declaratory order that purported changes to PNU National Executive committee admitting Jeremiah Kioni, Nderitu Mureithi and Ezekiel Angwenyi as illegal and therefore null and void.
