Tigania West MP David Karithi has reaffirmed PNU Party's support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the August polls.

Speaking on Tuesday, the legislator dismissed claims by Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi that Meru governor Peter Munya is funding Opposition alliance NASA activities in the region.

“PNU conducted a national delegates’ conference and endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection bid so he should stop lying to the people of Meru that we are not supporting the President,” he said.

“We know he has been fighting PNU. He even wanted the party deregistered. The recent claims about NASA are a ploy to malign the party and try to get some sympathy votes, but we are telling him we will trounce Jubilee in Meru,” he added.

On Sunday, Senator Murungi, who is also eyeing the Meru gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket claimed that governor Munya is a NASA sympathiser and was bankrolling Opposition's activities in the larger Meru region.

“We know Munya is in NASA. He and ward administrators organised the [NASA] meeting at Maili Tatu. They even financed the meeting and mobilised residents to attend the event,” Murungi claimed.
