The Party of National Unity (PNU) national chairman, John Kamama, has alleged that Meru Governor Peter Munya is conning aspirants by promising them party tickets for the next year's polls.
Kamama said the party will not sponsor candidates for any political seat in the 2017 general elections.
“Munya has been conning people masquerading as a party leader. He should stop duping aspirants that they will get PNU tickets for the next poll," he said.
He urged aspirants and other politicians to fish for other political parties saying PNU was part of Jubilee Party.
“We are behind President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in their re-election bid in 2017 under Jubilee Party," said Kamama.
He added that the Council of Governors chairman is not PNU official, insisting that former President Mwai Kibaki is the party leader.
"I am still the chairman of PNU and the retired President Kibaki is the party leader after Political Parties Disputes Tribunal quashed the purported merger decision in October," he added.
On Sunday, Munya said the political outfit is winning support across the country, with aspirants from Central Kenya joining it in large numbers.
“Very many politicians are ready to join PNU because I am meeting them daily. PNU is going places in providing democratic space in this region,” said Munya.
He claimed he had held meetings with several politicians interested in joining PNU from Nakuru, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Laikipia and the coastal region.
