The Party of National Unity (PNU) will field candidates in 31 counties ahead of the August polls.
The party said on Thursday it will field aspirants for the posts of governor, senator, MP, women representative and member of the county assembly in selected devolved units where it deems it enjoys support.
According to the former ruling party, most aspirants will be concentrated in the counties of Embu, Meru and Kajiado.
PNU acting Executive Director Peter Kaberia said the party had attracted influential politicians interested in contesting for various elective positions during the fourth coming general election.
According to the party, 11 members have already declared interest in vying for the post of governor with 15 eyeing the Senate.
PNU is among ‘small’ parties which were expected to dissolve to join Jubilee but the party leadership rejected the dissolution proposal.
President Uhuru Kenyatta during the official launch of Jubilee Party at the Safaricom International Sports Centre Kasarani warned ‘small’ parties which rejected dissolution to join JP that their members should prepare for a bruising battle against JP candidates.
Uhuru, however, recently made a U-turn and said Jubilee would work with the ‘rebellious’ political outfits to boost the ruling party’s numbers as he prepares to take on National Super Alliance’s Raila Odinga in his bid to secure a second term in office.
