The Director of Product Evaluation and Registration at the Pharmacy an Poisons Board Dr. Ahmed Mohamed officiated the opening of the ongoing stakeholders meeting at Utalii College on behalf of the Registrar, on Tuesday.
The three-day meeting is on Consultations for Adoption of Guidance Documents on Registration of Medical Products and Technologies.
The objective is to increase access to safe, effective and quality essential medicines that covers the entire life cycle of a medicine, starting from pre-market, marketing authorization and post market controls.
Dr. Mohamed highlighted key achievements that the Board has made towards the regulation of medical devices since 2011 as per legal Notice No: 191 of 2010.
The achievements include the establishment of the medical devices department, drafting of guidelines on submissions of applications for registration of medical devices, online system on submission of application and membership to the Asian Harmanization Working Party among others.
