The group of elders arrived at the station before sunrise to conduct the practice in belief that their gods would heed their plea during that time.

As custom demands, they sacrificed a bull alongside a black goat and smeared blood around the area amidst lamentations to drive away bad fortunes.

The ritual was deemed to restore sanity and safeguard the station against a recurrence of the recent killing incident where a policeman opened fire on and killed his colleagues.

According to one of the elders, events that cause death by shade of blood are mandatory to be cleansed by animal blood.

Nika Powon, an officer in charge of behavioral characteristics and rectification who was present during the exercise, explained that measures have been undertaken across the region to avert similar cases.

Last week a rogue police officer reportedly disarmed a policeman and opened fire killing seven of his colleagues in the event before he was finally brought down by the Recce Squad, bringing the death toll to eight.
