A section of residents of Dramvell in Mavoko, Machakos County have accused police of laxity in ensuring security in the region.
Claiming that the organized gangs had invaded their private land and attacking them as they subdivide and sell to unsuspecting buyers, they said the most affected areas were Acre Tano and Myland in Dramvell within Lukenya Division.
Speaking at Dramvell on Monday, resident John Okidi said, “We wonder if Myland is in Kenya, investors cannot develop his plot since there are militia groups which have invaded and terrorizing landowners”
Okidi said the thugs targeted anybody who talked about them and the land either on media or security agencies.
“They claim, these are their ancestral land. If we try to construct roads, they attack our graders. We cannot continue living like this,” added he.
The residents said they had been promised more police officers and an additional AP camp at Dramvell promises not yet fulfilled.
“The community donated land and houses for an AP camp at Dramvell, government officials inspected the houses and promised us administration police officers who we have not seen to date,” a resident added.
Muthwani MCA George King’ori said he will follow the matter with relevant authorities.
King’ori said it is the residents’ constitutional rights to be protected hence need for speedy intervention.
