One person died on Tuesday while another was injured after the motorcycle they were riding on was involved in an accident in Matuu.
The accident occurred after the motorbike lost control and hit rail guards along the Matuu-Garissa road.
The owner of the motorbike who was injured was admitted at the Matuu Level Four Hospital with feet and head injuries.
Yatta Deputy Traffic Commander Morris Assilah told the press after the incident that the riders were cruising down a slope before the motorcycle lost control before hitting a pedestrian who escaped with minor injuries.
Mr Assilah said that motorcycle accidents were becoming a serious problem as most of the riders are not trained and thus do not adhere to the traffic rules.
The officer said police were conducting patrols to edge out road-unworthy motorcycles and vehicles from the road.
He warned that those found breaking the traffic rules would be dealt with and advised members of public who wish to ride on the motorcycles to be supplied with helmet and other protective gears.
The deceased man's body was taken to Matuu Level Four Hospital funeral home.
