Kinoti said that investigations had been launched to ascertain the circumstances that led to the killing of the protesters.
Inspector General Joseph Boinnet had earlier dismissed the allegations that police officers were using excessive force to calm violent protesters.During an interview with NTV last week ,police boss Boinnet vehemently denied any case of police brutality and insisted that investigations were ongoing to determine whether the police were applying excessive force.A report released by KNCHR revealed that the police had killed 37 people in a span of just one week. The Kenya Human Rights Commission also highlighted in another report that use of excessive force by the police led to the death and maiming of a majority of people who came from one ethnic group. Many opposition supporters had complained about the police using live bullets to disperse crowds during peaceful demonstrations.NASA leaders have since threatened to file a case against Acting interior Cs Fred Matiangi and IG Boinett at International Criminal court (ICC) for crime against humanity.
