Police are holding two terror suspects who were arrested at the Isiolo-Moyale road at the junction leading to Garba-Tula.

While confirming the incident according to the standard newspaper, Isiolo County Police Commander Charles Ontita on Tuesday said the two foreigners were identified as Omar Mwalimu Kasambe a.k.a. Juma Abbas Zuberi, 28 years, and Ali Juma Kaondo, 17 years.

Despite efforts being made by the government to take down Al Shabaab operations, Isiolo is still considered a transit point by terrorists during recruitment and access point to Nairobi and other counties.

Last year KDF soldiers and police were posted on the Moyale-Isiolo highway following reports of active Al-Shabaab cells in the area.

According to intelligence sources, local grievances such as marginalisation are being exploited by Al Shabaab to infiltrate and recruit.

Unemployment is one of the pull-and-push factors that have seen some Kenyan youths join terror groups in Syria and other countries, says the report.

The terrorists are also using social media to recruit, teach, gain sympathy and stir inter-religious animosity.
