Police in Kisii town have arrested over 100 bar attendants operating before time set by the government and flouting the ‘Mututho Laws’.
According to Kisii Central police boss, Tom Mutisyia, they have severally warned the bar attendants from operating and selling alcohol before time set by the government.
“The owners of the bars will also be arrested for allowing their business premises opened during odd hours and for also failing to cooperate with the county drug officials who have frequently wrote warning letters for them to stop the habit,” he said.
He added, "We had our officers on the ground and for a while they have been warning the bar owners from violating the laws but they were not ready to change, all we want now is them to be arraigned in court and face the law."
He added that they will arrest more of the bar attendants in the town in order to reduce alcohol abuse in the region.
This comes barely few days after the Police in the county raided and destroyed more than 5,000 litres of illicit brew.
