Police in Nakuru have arrested four suspects who were part of a gang of more than 50 people who early on Tuesday invaded Pyrethrum estate 4 in Nakuru town, broke into several houses and stole assorted goods.

The suspects were arrested after police responded to alarm raised by occupants of the estate who were invaded at around 5.00am.

Residents said that the gang was armed with crude weapons and that immediately after breaking into the houses, they beat up the occupants before ransacking the houses.

Assorted household items and electronics were loaded onto a waiting lorry that was later intercepted by police and towed to Nakuru central police station.

Most of the residents sustained bruises while one police officer who resides in the estate was cut on the head.

Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukatta while confirming the incident said that  police responded and managed to arrest four suspects who were allegedly hired by an auctioneer.

He said the suspects are assisting police with investigations.
