[Photo|the-star]A 27-year old man and a Class Six pupil from Nyambija Primary School in Migori County are set to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, December 27, over teenage marriage.The two are currently being held at Awendo police station after they reportedly went missing five months ago.They were arrested on Thursday at the man’s home in Kwoyo village.Migori deputy county Commissioner Alfet Jilo said the two have been in detention for over the 24-hour required time over investigations to establish the actual age of the minor.“The birth certificate of the girl presented by the parents indicates she was born in the year 2005. However, the girl insists she was born in 2001,” the DCC told Citizen Digital.He urged the community to help the police curb cases of early marriages saying female pupils have been dropping out of school due to teen pregnancy and early marriages.
