Officers at Teachers police post are holding a middle-aged woman over allegations of being in possession of counterfeit money. Confirming the incident on Friday, police officer in charge of station, Mercy Musyoka, said the suspect, identified as Violet Wangoi, was arrested after a bar attendant notified police. The police officer said that the suspect was arrested at a drinking joint in the estate last night after she attempted to exchange the money with genuine one. “She was trying to access genuine money by handing over fake one thousand notes. We recovered about ten-one thousand fake notes from her after receiving information from a bar owner,’’ said Musyoka, adding that the suspect who was in company of two men who escaped arrest had been buying alcoholic drinks to other bar patrons using fake money to gain access to genuine money. The officer said that the suspect could have been under instructions of the men who escaped arrest and that she would help identify other dealers of fake money in the investigations that have been launched.
