Police on Wednesday arrested seven Somali men suspected to be running a human trafficking ring at the Daadab refugee camp in Garissa County.
North Eastern Regional Cordinator Mohamed Saleh said the suspects have been helping Somali refugees to acquire Kenyan national identification documents.
He said the seven are also susected to have been helping the refugees to travel to Europe and Canada.
They were arraigned at a Garissa court and were detained for ten days pending investigations.
Kenya is currently in the process of closing the Daadab refugee camp which is home to close to half a million Somali nationals.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery in 2016 said Daadab had become a centre for training terror masterminds working with Somalia-based terror group al-Shabaab.
Al-Shaabab fighters have vowed to terrorise Kenya until the government withdraws Kenya Defence Force soldiers it deployed in Somalia in 2011.
