Police in Maseno have recovered two laptops recently stolen from Maseno University.
Maseno OCPD Peter Omanwa said police received a tip-off from the public about the whereabouts of machines which were stolen from Maseno University hostels on Saturday evening.
"We received information about the laptops that were being sold in Chulaimbo, we acted swiftly and managed to recover them from the culprits who are now in our custody awaiting to be arraigned in court," said Mr Omanwa.
He said the two were arrested as they waited for a prospective buyer from Busia.
"We received information that there were two people who were selling laptops who looked suspicious," he said.
"We sent an officer who acted as a potential buyer. He confirmed that indeed the laptops marched the description of the stolen laptops, we moved in and made the arrest."
Onamwa said the recovery came through due to the existing community policing initiatie.
"I would like to urge the public to continue working together with the police in order to ensure that crime levels in this area are reduced," added Onamwa.
The two laptops were stolen from a female hostel at Maseno University after a break in.
The two suspects identified as Martin Keino and Samson Okoth will be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
