The three, two men and a woman, are believed to have been behind the rising cases of kidnapping in the city.

The three are reported to have kidnapped a woman who was waiting to board a matatu along the eastern by-pass and demanded a ransom of Sh200,000 from the victim's family.

However, police say the family only managed to raise Sh5,000 which they sent to the kidnappers.

Detectives, however, tracked the gang to the Nakuru-Nairobi highway where they found the kidnapped woman blindfolded and a piece of cloth stuffed in her mouth.

The Head of Special Crimes Prevention unit Noah Katumo said the woman was kidnapped on Thursday evening.

He also called on the public to be keen about kidnappers.

Katumo also said those  who have fallen victim to kidnappings within Nairobi should report to Ruiru police station where the suspects are being held to help in identifying them.

The detectives also found cello-tape used by kidnappers to tie the victims.
