Anti-narcotics detectives have arrested two more persons suspected of drug trafficking in Lamu County in the ongoing crackdown on the illegal business.

Confirming the arrest, Lamu County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo told Daily Nation that the two were arrested in Siyu village with 22 sachets of heroin and knives following a tip-off from the public.

He also said that two; Mwalimu Omar Shahib, 23, and Hussein Ali Kame alias Major, 25, will be arraigned in court on Monday on drug charges.

"All [of them] will be charged with an offense of being in possession of narcotic drugs including 22 sachets of heroin without any medical prescription," Mr Kitiyo said.

The operation to flush out drug traffickers from the county comes after leaders and resident lamented over increased cases of students dropping out schools because of the vice.

This is after eight other suspects were arrested within the three days of the operations against drug barons in the county.

The eight include Feisal Mohamed Islam, Hisham Athman Abdallah, Mohamed Twahir Ali, Said Abdallah Mohamed, Imran Mohamed Islam and Ali Hassan who were found with bhang.

They were arraigned in court on Friday for being found in possession of drugs.

Police are also holding other suspects arrested in Pate and Faza and Pate.
