Administration Police officers from Witeithie in Juja Sub-County have arrested three suspects including a young woman believed to be behind a spate of armed robberies that have rocked the sprawling Witeithie Estate and its environs in the recent past and recovered police uniforms and other weapons including a toy pistol.
According to Juja Sub-County AP Commandant Doreen Gitonga, members of the public who have been losing their goats, sheep and hens in mysterious circumstances saw five men driving goats into an isolated plot in Molo area.
She said since the public has been suspecting those living in the timber and iron sheet plot, they alerted the local APs.
The commandant said her men led by Inspector Charles Muasya rushed to the scene, and managed to corner one of the suspects, who was identified as Peter Karanja from the neighbouring Athena Estate.
Gitonga said after a thorough search, her officers recovered two pairs of jungle green trousers, a jungle jacket, a dark blue barret and a coloured belt with regular police crown and a pair of handcuffs, all belonging to regular police of the Kenya Police Service.
The police boss said also recovered were a toy pistol hidden in nearby grass, swords, clubs, daggers, scissors, spades, chain and saws among other crude weapons and tools of trade.
“I am happy that the police have arrested these criminals who have stolen my 40 goats since February,” the officer said at the scene.
