Police in Gesonso have arrested two men who were allegedly found in possession of bhang worth Sh150,000.

Robert Nyambane, 22, and Bernad Kenyaga, 24, were arrested on Saturday at Daraja Mbili after the police got a tip off from curious members of the public.

According to a witness, the man who had travelled from kisii town appeared restless, and was easily nabbed at a police check point at Daraja.

Confirming on the incident, Gesonso police boss  Jonathan Kisaka said that the man boarded a matatu from Kisii heading to Migori, carrying a huge metal box and could not express himself when he realised that the smell of bhang was evident to other passengers in the matatu.

“The smell of bhang was all over the matatu; that is why police had an easy time to apprehend him,” Kisaka told the journalists when they visited his office today.

He said police are on high alert to apprehend all bhang peddlers and other illegal drugs dealers in the county.

The police asked members of the public to assist the police in the war against drugs, saying that school going-children are the most vulnerable to the influence of the drug traffickers.

Kisaka said that the man is being held in Gesonso police station waiting to be arraigned in court.
