Police in the Coastal county of Kwale have arrested a woman in possession of 41.9 kilograms of ivory.The unidentified lady was arrested in Nganja village, Ukunda, area police boss Joseph Chebusit told the press on Thursday.According to Chebusit, police acted after members of the public reported her presence in a makeshift house in Nganja.The ivory cut into 88 pieces, he said, is estimated to be worth Sh2 million.He said the suspect will be arraigned at Kwale courts after investigations are complete.Coast region is considered a prime route for exporting ivory from East Africa to Asia.The woman's arrest comes three months after police in Mombasa arraigned in court a man arrested with 1.97 tonnes of ivory estimated to be worth Sh197 million.Gitonga Mbare was arrested at the port of Mombasa.
