A police officer has been detained over stray bullet killing allegations in Mombasa.
According to Baraka FM, detectives are holding the policeman for killing a man on Tuesday night.
The Police officer, who was stationed at a police road block in Changamwe, is alleged to have open fire at the vehicle carrying the man when the driver refused to stop for a check-up.
He fired at the vehicle in a bid to deflate the tires but the bullet hit the man on the neck killing him instantly.
Changamwe police boss confirmed the incident saying the policeman was arrested and will be charged with murder.
He further said that the police are in search of the passengers who had boarded the 14 seater PSV of number plate KBK 400K to help with investigations.
Two G3 rifles and an AK47 gun which the policeman possessed were confiscated and taken to the DCI.
The other police that were with the suspect at the time of the incident have been dismissed from duty and are currently undergoing interrogations..
The vehicle had just left town and was heading towards Changamwe when the tragedy happened.
