TNA Nakuru branch chairman Dr Abdul Noor has asked police to investigate and crack the whip on those using social media to create unnecessary fear of terror attacks in Nakuru Town.
While addressing journalists at the party’s offices in Nakuru on Monday, Noor said that some people are spreading rumours using WhatsApp and Facebook that Al-Shaabab terror group is targeting to attack a certain place in Nakuru Town, something that is making residents live in fear.
“Police officers should apprehend those cause terror scares. Residents of Nakuru are peace loving and anyone who is trying to create disturbance should be arrested and prosecuted,” Noor said.
He said that they are happy to see police increasing patrols and urged the residents to cooperate with security officers by reporting any suspicious activities or person and the necessary action will be taken.
“Security should not be maintained only during the month of Ramadhan but even after. All residents must embrace the Nyumba Kumi Initiative as a way of boosting security within ourselves,” the chairman said.
John Njoroge, a TNA youth leader in the county, urged his fellow youths to desist from engaging in activities that will breach security and be each brothers' keeper.
