Police in Kisumu have been asked to be keen on driving schools in the area to curb cases of careless and reckless driving.

Recently, accident cases in the county have risen with regional traffic boss noting that major accidents occur at least every week especially along major roads and highways.

Speaking on Thursday during at the Kisumu Social Hall, Kisumu Residents Voice Association chairman Audi Ogada said that the number of driving schools in the area has increased lowering authenticity of their trainings.

“We have too many driving schools around and we cannot really tell which ones offer training that is worth applying on our roads. The police really need to cut down on some of these driving schools that do not consider time and effective training to the residents,” said Ogada.

Manyatta Youth Bunge chair Benson Onoka accused the recently established driving schools of not taking into consideration excellent driving training but only being after money.

“Let the police bring sanity into our roads by cutting down on driving schools which are after business at the expense of lives of human beings,” said.
