The area Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Omondi  Ouko said it is unclear how the incident happened, but noted that they are carrying out a search to ensure they recover the stolen gun.

“If the weapon lands in the wrong hands, the possibility of lives being lost and security being compromised is very probable. We will not rest till we find that gun and arrest all those involved to book,” said Omondi.

It is alleged that the officer was on patrol at around 10pm when the incident happened, a time that some of the residents claim is quite early for such incidences.

This incident comes two weeks after the sub-county commissioner Benard Kinyua ordered to   meet with area chiefs and heads of the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ initiative to come up with measures to reduce the high rate of crime in the area.

Lari sub county is so far one of the best in ‘Nyumba Kumi’ initiative implementation, but the recent happenings is a worrying trend, with the leaders vowing to curb the situation.
