Police in Kakamega county are hunting for people circulating hate leaflets against a certain community.
The leaflets are said to have demanded that a certain community leave after voting on October 26.
They were discovered in Lugari constituency and had been distributed in several areas including Lugari, Mwamba, Mautuma, Lumakanda and Kipkaren market centers.
Area MP Ayub Savula has condemned the circulation and asked members of the said community to stay put as they will be protected.
He said those who took part in the election should not panic since it was their democratic right.
"It appears the leaflets were printed by people with money, with the intention of causing ethnic chaos but I, as MP, will not accept that," he said as quoted by the Star on Sunday.
"I went to school with members of the Kikuyu community, many of whom were born and brought up in Lugari. I will not allow anyone to take advantage of politics to cause political animosity among our people."
"I have received calls from so many people who are worried but we will deal with the situation and ensure no one is harmed or forced to leave Lugari because of politics."
