The Kenyan and Italian Investors from Mombasa who were supposed to take over the Sh. 1 billion resort in Watamu have vowed to take over the hotel using all means after police failed to execute court orders on Wednesday.

Isaac Rodrot and Stefano Uccelli claim the court orders were clear and wondered how more than 30 police officers could not enforce the orders of the court after being blocked by less than 40 people at the entrance.

Rodrot said the whole drama of enforcing the court order was stage managed by the police.

“Junior officers  said they had not been briefed by their seniors , the court orders were with  the Officer Commanding Watamu police station (OCS), we found people at the gate no one produced Work Identity cards,’’ he said.

The Kenyan investor also said the German who is currently running the hotel Hans Jurgen Langer did not appear during the fracas.

Rodrot said they would not file any contempt of court suit and called on the police to enforce the court orders.

He said those who blocked them from accessing the hotel were few workers and goons hired to create a scene.

“Police should try and enforce the orders of the court, the Inspector General, the local Police and county officials should ensure the orders are enforced,’’ he said.

He said the chaos and tire burning were a major threat to the tourism sector .

Rodrot said their aim is to ensure a smooth handover of the property so as to continue with business at the resort.

“The Police should summon Hans Langer and ask him why he does to not obey orders of the court,’’ he said.

On Wednesday security personnel in four vehicles went to the Police station to execute the court orders but faced resistance forcing them to retreat.

The workers carrying bows, arrows and stones said they did not want Rodrot and Uccelli to take over hotel until there were clear orders from the court.

Former employees of the hotel accused Langer of mistreating the locals by employing foreigners and outsiders.
