In a brief with journalists at his office on Monday, area police boss Mutoro Kizito said that the public has an important role to play on matters that involve security.

Kizito said that police-public partnership will go  a long way in weeding out run-away crime.

“Our appeal is to the people to work with us [as] we focus on fighting insecurity,” said Kizito.

The police boss said that that even though crime rates have reduced recently, there is need for continued crackdown on criminals.

Kizito at the same note encouraged residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi security initiative.

He said that the national government has started various policies meant to address insecurity at grassroot levels.

The police boss asked residents to support such initiatives, saying they are for their own good, further assuring locals of their safety ahead of the New Year celebrations.
