Nyanza regional deputy police commissioner John Mwinzi has called for the speedy completion of police housing units in Nyamira County.
Mwinzi said that most of the officers were not discharging their duties diligently to the residents due to the environment they were living in and operating from.
“The government has decided to ensure that the police live in good conditions so that they can give better services to the people of Nyamira. This is a way of appreciation the people of Nyamira,” he said.
This follows a visit in the area to assess whether the project, started 21 years ago, was ready for the officers’ occupation. He was however surprised to find that the project was only halfway done noting that out of the 52 housing units supposed to be constructed, on 26 were complete,” said Mwinzi.
“Out of the 52 housing units which were to be constructed, only 26 units are completed and some officers have already started using them,” he said.
He also called on the officers that have started using the complete houses to be responsible and ensure when they are transferred they leave the houses in good condition as they found them.
