Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has  banned the use of Chinese coin-slot gambling machines.

He said the machines had increased insecurity cases across the County.

"Such machines make people to commit crime so as to participate in the lottery game hoping to win. Its also a thieves den," he said.

Addressing journalists in Eldoret town, he said the games had caused youth to be idle since they spend most of their time gambling.

"I am issuing a stern warning to those shops and  restaurants involved in the illegal business to either close or we close it forcefully," he warned.

The gambling machines work in a way that when coins are dropped in certain slots, they allow the player to press the buttons randomly. If one wins, coins move randomly from the outlet.
