Daniel Ragae, 58, is said to have used a G3 riffle in trying to take his life.

He was rushed to Thika Level Four hospital where he was admitted.

“We heard a gunshot rent the air. We rushed to his house and snatched the rifle from him and immobilised him, he was oozing blood from the head,” said one of the officers at the post.

His colleagues at Ngelinya AP Post in Gatanga sub-county, said Ragae resumed duty on Sunday after a leave and that he looked depressed over unknown issues to them.

Murang’a County Commissioner, John Elungata confirmed the incident and said police have launched investigations into the matter.

Elsewhere, an AP corporal attached to Gambela AP Operation Camp in Tigania East, Meru County, on Monday shot and killed his colleague following an argument.

The suspect was later arrested and detained at Tigania Police Station. Cases of officers commiting suicide, killing colleagues and girlfriends in love triangle has been rampant for the past two months in the country.
