Kiambu police boss Mutune Maweu has threatened to close down bars and entertainment joints that are operating illegally.
Speaking to journalists in Kiambu town, the police boss said that some bars are contravening the ‘Mututho Laws’.
He said that investigations have been launched on allegations that some of the bars are allowing access to teenagers.
“We are going to act tough on bars, lodges and other entertainment joints that are not ready to stick to the law,” he warned.
The Police boss said that it is illegal for bars to allow access and sale alcoholic drinks to teenagers.
Maweu said his office has received several complaints adding that action will be taken immediately.
He said that all bars must adhere to the opening and closing hours to avoid falling in the wrong hand of the law.
“We all know that bars are supposed to open at 5pm and close down by 11pm in the night,” he said.
The police boss further warned bars operating without authenticated documents saying that they too will not be spared.
He observed many operators are in business illegally adding that they are working closely with Nacada to ensure they are shut down.
The Police boss also warned entertainment clubs against playing loud music stating that they too risk arrest and prosecution.
