Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has rubbished videos making rounds on social media alleging police brutality on protesters as 'grossly exaggerated'.

Matiang’i has, however, said that he is waiting for Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) report which is currently investigating the matter.

"I don't want to put the cart before the horse. IPOA is investigating the matter. We will act according to the law because the Police have standing orders. Some of the videos have been analysed. They are not true. I am eagerly waiting for IPOA's report which will be made public after seven days," Matiang’i told KTN News on Monday during an interview.

The CS said Macharia Njeru-led IPOA has a stronger team that analyses such material (videos) and the truth will soon be out where those found to be culpable will face the full force of the law.

"Whatever I say or do is very important as the one in charge of security. Let us not pass judgement without examining the facts. I am an honest public servant and I don't engage in public relations," he added.

He also denied allegations that the Police were treating Jubilee demonstrators favourably than NASA's saying that no political group has been treated better than another.

Matiang'i asserted that police have not used excessive force on supporters of any political group adding that he is 'sick and tired of this pettiness'.
