Governor Jackson Mandago has called urged the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiangi, to look into concerns of some police officers conniving with robbers to commit crimes

He said cases of robberies have gone up.

"Insecurity is on the increase in Uasin Gishu County especially in Eldoret and outskirts, people are being robbed and others killed and as a leader, I cannot sit back," he said in Eldoret town, Monday

"We have information that some officers who are supposed to be protecting the public, are instead colluding with these robbers," he added.

He, however, said the fight against illicit alcohol menace is being compromised by some police officers.

"Despite the county security committee fighting illicit liquor there some officers who are curtailing our efforts," noted Mandago.

"Interior CS should look into concerns that police officers are sheltering distributors and sellers of these substances," he added.

Two years ago, about 35 people lost their lives in North Rift after having consumed illicit alcohol, with some of those brands consumed originating from Uganda.
