A form four student at Vihiga Boys’ High school is the latest causality of the ongoing NASA demonstrations in Kisumu.

Michael Omondi was felled by what the residents claimed was a bullet at Kondele area on Monday afternoon.

In what was a day to forget for the locals, a two-year old was also hospitalized after she was hit by a stray bullet, in a case that has caused much uproar.

The 18 year old Omondi is said to have been buying ice cream when the incident happened.

According to one of the eyewitness at the scene, the boy was shot by a police officer, who later proceeded to remove the bullet from the boy’s neck using a knife.

The boy’s mother said her son had been sent home for school fees last week on Wednesday, and was scheduled to go back this week.

“I had a Sh10,000 balance, so he was in the house today. We took breakfast and he left at some point and did not come back for lunch,” said the mother.

At the Jaramogi Odinga Hospital, the two year old who was also shot was said to have been playing in their compound, when a bullet aimed at the demonstrators hit her.

NASA’s demos have been ongoing for the past four weeks, with the opposition pushing for reforms before the country goes to the presidential polls.
